One of my favorite moments from our wedding was, of course, the moment I arrived at the chapel and the entire duration of the ceremony. The most magical moment was our sunset photoshoot, and the funniest moment was right after the ceremony, when we secretly exchanged our first kiss as husband and wife and the priest, not seeing us, said, «Not yet.» We laughed so much, and right after he gave us his blessing, we shared our official kiss. Another moment that stood out was our reception party, the dancing, and the joyful celebration with our loved ones at the little tavern until morning.

«We met interning at the same company 8 years ago. It was a big company and we did not work in the same department so we consider ourselves lucky to have met. We happened to notice each other at an orientation session and again in an elevator. 6 years later, we were in Toronto and went for dinner at one of our favourite local spots. «We really wanted to keep the decor simple and centered around earth tones that would match the natural beauty of the island. Greens with warm neutral beiges and browns covered the reception table. The table numbers were on stones and there were dried chickpea details as well. On the table, we went for greenery over flowers with various vases (different sizes and shapes) as center pieces. A few weeks later I invited him to come to NJ to visit, and soon after that we entered a long distance relationship.Months of flying back and forth between Florida and NJ ensued, and in the spring of 2023, Yakir decided to make the leap andmove in. Our relationship progressed and on St Patrick’s Day 2024 Yakir proposed. I immediately said yes as I knew that I hadfound my person. We had already planned a 2 week trip around Greece for the end of May, and so that point we decided wewould tack on a wedding. He has family that lives in a nearby country, and it would be easier for them to attend if we had it in Greece. We also knew how beautiful the country and culture is and wanted to celebrate our love there.»

Malevi and Paisios experienced a wedding just as they had dreamed—purely summery and full of personal touches—on the enchanting island of Koufonisia. Paisios opted for a stylish groom’s suit by Christakis Athens, while the stunning Malevi wore an airy wedding dress that she adorned with seashells she had collected herself from across the Greek seas. Her fairytale look was completed with an asymmetrical bridal bouquet by Dezoom Events, featuring eucalyptus and pampas grass, adding to the natural, boho vibe of the celebration. One of the most unforgettable moments in their love story was Paisios’ incredibly creative and romantic proposal, which beautifully reflected their shared love for the sea. He crafted a handmade ring with aquamarine—Malevi’s favorite stone—and placed it inside a seashell, which he then hid underwater. While snorkeling together, he asked her to dive and find the shell, making the moment as magical as it was meaningful. This summer wedding is sure to inspire and delight anyone planning their own special day.

«We met through instagram because of mutual collaborators and a shared aesthetic. When Paisios sent me a friend request, I was lying in the sun on a beach in Crete, right next to the sea. As soon as I scrolled through his profile, I turned to my friend and said, “That’s the man I’m going to marry.” And I did. I actually didn’t remember saying it, but she reminded me when I sent her our wedding invitation. The connection between us was instant, and soon after we met, Paisios moved from Thessaloniki to Athens. From that moment on, we became partners in life and in work.»

«The wedding proposal happened by the sea. The ocean has always been something that connects us, which is why we chose to get married near it, traveling with our loved ones to be close to it. Long before he proposed, we had already talked about how I imagined my ring. Since everything we wear is handmade by Paisios, he was going to make the ring himself. I asked for something authentic and natural, with an aquamarine stone to remind me of the sea. Every piece of jewelry I wore on the day—from our wedding bands to my bridal crown—was made by him and some even included aquamarine. He searched for a long time to find the perfect stone. When he finally did, even though he had told everyone, he was waiting for the right moment. He took a seashell, hid the ring inside, and dropped it into the sea. While we were snorkeling, he told me to dive and pick up that specific shell he had hidden. How could I say no?»

«I don’t even know where to begin with my wedding dress—it was a dream. From the first fitting to the last, I lost 22 kilos, so we made lots of changes before reaching the final result. I had been imagining the dress for so long, and once I knew exactly what I wanted, I brought my sketches and ideas to the best person I could think of: Anna Tavoularidi. I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else. Only Anna could sew all the seashells I had collected over my summers on Greek beaches onto my dress. No matter how crazy my idea, Anna always brought it to life beautifully. Together we created my dream gown. The first thing I said to her when I arrived was, “Make me a mermaid.” And she made me something even more magical. In her dress, I felt ethereal. With every flutter of the sleeves, I felt exactly as I wanted—a mermaid who came ashore and found her pirate, ready for whatever comes next. Especially with the handmade coral earrings Paisios crafted for me.»

«Everything about the wedding was made by us. Every detail was handmade. Since our jewelry collection the previous year had a pirate-inspired theme, that influence made its way into the wedding too. Our ideas were shaped by that vision—earthy colors, shades of mint and eucalyptus. The vases were textured with seashells and ocean elements. We searched all over Athens for linen fabrics and pirate-themed props—chests, anchors, ropes, and candlesticks. Chef friends brought us oysters, others collected wine bottles so we could melt wax. This wedding was built with love and the help of many hands. I’ll never forget when we went out into the fields in Halkidiki with scissors to cut pampas grass… and got chased by dogs!»

There’s one moment from our wedding that I tell everyone about whenever I talk about that day. The moment I arrived by boat at the little chapel, holding both my parents’ hands, with Yellow by Coldplay playing loudly in the background. I looked up and saw everyone smiling and crying as they looked at me and there was my husband—so handsome—smiling back with sunlight glowing around him. I’ll never forget that image.

A personal favorite detail? The wedding favors. They were small brown linen pouches with mint linen fabric, a bit of dried eucalyptus, and as a thank-you gift, a silver necklace featuring a pirate coin engraved with “deaf island” and our wedding date. We still get emotional every time we see them worn by our friends and family.

«My advice to any bride planning her wedding is this: do what you and your partner want. Don’t listen to anyone else. This day is a celebration of your love, and you’ll remember it forever. The hardest part of wedding planning is often the opinions of family and others. They mean well, but sometimes they complicate things more than help. Honestly, all I wanted as a bride was for me and my partner to feel good—whether it was the clothes we wore or the music playing at our party.»
